Custom Framing for Design Professionals
We work with design professionals on projects ranging from a single piece to large installations. Most projects begin with an appointment in our Old Town showroom, where we can work through selection, budget, timing and the technical details together.

Selection & samples
Selection & Samples
Our frame collection is extensive. If you already know the direction, tell us. We’ll pull the most relevant options rather than work through the collection one wall at a time.
Selection
We can compare profile, finish, scale, construction, cost and lead time while you’re here.
Sample checkout
Frame corners and finish samples can be checked out for client presentations and site visits.
Custom references
If you have a specific material, color, finish or profile in mind, bring it with you. We can often match it, modify something existing or make it.

Capabilities
Capabilities
When the right frame is not in the collection, we can go well beyond standard moulding.
Construction
- Closed-corner frames
- Custom profiles
- Carved frames and custom ornament
- Oversized fabrication
- One-off construction
Finishes
- Hand-applied finishes
- Specialty painted and patinated finishes
- Water gilding
- Custom-color lacquer
Metal
- Steel fabrication
- Aluminum fabrication
- Powder-coated finishes
Mirrors
- Specialty mirrors
- Custom dimensions and proportions
- Wood and metal fabrication
A finish, material, color or detail from the project can also be the starting point. We can often match it, interpret it or develop something specifically for the piece. For custom work, finish samples can be made before full production.
Specialty work
Specialty Work
Very large, fragile, valuable or unusual pieces often require more than a standard framing approach.
Very Oversized Work
We regularly work with very large artwork and other pieces where size affects the construction. Weight, rigidity, handling, access and installation are considered before fabrication.
Conservation
We have extensive experience with specialized mounting, support, glazing and conservation materials for works on paper, photography, paintings, textiles, fragile or valuable artwork, dimensional pieces and unusual objects. Detailed conservation reference →
Textiles & Objects
We make custom mounts, supports, shadowboxes, deep frames and other one-off constructions when conventional framing methods are not appropriate.
Specialty mirrors
Specialty Mirrors
We make custom mirrors to specific dimensions, proportions and finishes.
Options can include closed-corner wood frames, carved details, custom lacquer, hand finishing, gilding, steel, aluminum and powder-coated metal.
For mirrors that need to relate closely to cabinetry, furniture, metalwork or other architectural finishes, we can develop the frame around those materials.
Budget & timing
Budget & Timing
Tell us the budget and the date at the beginning.
Budget
We can compare options while we’re looking at the project and show where changes in the profile, finish, glazing or fabrication affect cost.
Timing
If there is a fixed installation date, we’ll account for the production time required. Stock moulding, custom finishing, closed-corner work, gilding and metal fabrication have very different lead times.
If something is not realistic within the schedule or budget, we’ll tell you and show you the alternatives.
Appointments
Most trade projects are best handled in person. Bring the artwork and whatever helps define the project. We can usually get to the right framing options quickly and deal with cost, timing, custom work and technical questions during the appointment.
