EXPERIENCED PICTURE FRAMER
Image & Frame primarily serves discerning clients, collectors and institutions whom the presentation and protection of their art is paramount. We work intimately with each client to produce the best presentation given the history, content and placement of their work.
It is important that you understand conservation-based framing, as well as handling art of all types and values. Someone with a keen attention to detail, and a steady hand is a must.
What we need from you is:
- Minimum of three to five years of picture framing experience (You have to hit the ground running, so real experience is a must!)
- Demonstrated ability to cut and join frames and stretch canvases (We use traditional corner vices to do the initial frame join. You must have good hand strength for this process.)
- Be comfortable operating and troubleshooting a Computerized Mat Cutter
- Have excellent customer service skills
- The ability to adapt and learn quickly
- The ability to multi-task and work as a team member
- Be reliable, prompt and organized
- Must be able to lift 60 lbs
Job duties will include:
- Coordinating with other team members to stay on schedule
- Cutting and joining of frames to the highest standards. Traditional vice clamps and Cassese machinery is used
- Fitting – including shadow box fabrication
- Stretching canvases
- Cutting glass and plexi-glass
- Cut simple to complex mats using a CMC
- Conservation mounting and fitting of various 2- and 3-d artwork, as needed
- Customer service and design assistance, as needed
